The courses general condition was very good the curving fairways were well defined, the bunkers had lovely soft sand in them and the greens were good but they could be improved upon.
This course has some wonderful views and is quite a challenge at over 7000 yards from the championship tees. The course starts well with a sloping 1st hole where you do not want to go right, get a half decent tee shot and you will have a short iron downhill to a green that is fairly unprotected.
The 2nd hole has an intimidating tee shot uphill through a gap in the tree line, it can be a tough green to reach if you do not get good distance off the tee. Quite a few of the holes are guarded by well positioned bunkers, the 3rd being a good example and get your approach wrong on the double green 6th and you could have an impossible putt.
The 11th is an interesting Par 5 that you could try & cut the corner on but if you haven't got a yardage chart or have not played the course before you'll be wondering where the green is. The course finishes with a very kind 18th hole, quite short compared to the rest of the course and the slopes on either side of the fairway ensure a wayward drive won't stray too far, it's a long green though so make sure you know if the flag is on the back or front of the green so you can choose the right club.
There is a good variety of holes and the course does have some open areas where wayward shots will not be severely punished but it also has plenty of long rough & gorse bushes where you will get unplayable balls, so accuracy is a key factor on this course.
The staff & members that we met were very pleasant & the showers/changing rooms scored 10 out of 10 on our scale.

Hole
6:
552 yard par 5.
There were many good holes on the course but we liked this one, the tee shot had to be accurate to be placed in the narrow fairway & even with a long drive you would have to be very bold to try & reach the green with your second shot. So another accurate shot is required, ensuring you keep well clear of the gorse bushes leaving a small pitch onto the double green to try and get as close as possible for that birdie putt.

I played this course on one of the wettest days of the year and it had the potential to be a thoroughly miserable round; however this was not the case. The course although wet, was in very good condition, except for a bit of work on the 17th and 18th holes. It was a great challenge, and every hole was enjoyable in its own way. I will certainly be returning to this course - maybe the sun will shine next time!

I played this course last oct and it was in perfect condition,It was the best course I had played on all year and that includes gleneagles [kings course] The only problem it has its just a bit to far away to join. Roll on 15th april as we have booked up again.
